Dontre Wilson: “I’m still committed” to Oregon

With a report out that 2013 DeSoto running back Dontre Wilson could take a visit to Ohio State, and possibly other schools, the all-purpose back spoke briefly with ESPN ($) on Wednesday after the news that head coach Chip Kelly had departed Eugene for the NFL:

It was crazy. He was just here yesterday. I was talking to him, and he didn’t show me any signs he was leaving. I guess it is what it is.
I’m still committed. I still feel the same.

And what is it? Well, it’s business as usual for college recruits, who have absolutely no guarantees that the head coach that they commit to will still be there when they sign, a major reason why many observers of the process recommend to young players that they commit to a program instead of a coach.

Regardless, Wilson will have plenty of coaches in his hear (not to mention fans on Twitter) in the next several days trying to get him to take visits and being committed to another school hasn’t stopped numerous prospects from doing just that.

As sincere as the DeSoto product may be, those words won’t be the final say in all this.
