Jason Hatcher decommits from USC, Kentucky enters picture

Defensive end Jason Hatcher has decommitted from the USC Trojans. The Louisville Cardinals and Kentucky Wildcats are definite contenders to land Hatcher.

The USC Trojans have seen another one of their players decommit for this recruiting class. Trinity defensive end Jason Hatcher has reopened his recruitment from USC.

USC is close to the scholarship crunch due to sanctions, so Hatcher’s decommitment could have had something to do with lack of space.

Two of the teams that might have a legitimate shot at Hatcher are local schools, as both the Kentucky Wildcats and the Louisville Cardinals are definitely interested in Hatcher. Kentucky is probably one of the top favorites to land Hatcher. Hatcher also has at least 20 offers from many schools around the region and is considered a consensus four-star recruit.

With the decommitment of Hatcher, USC is down to two defensive line verbals. Both defensive end Kenny Bigelow and Torrodney Prevot still remain committed to USC and have yet to sign. Thanks to these stats courtesy of Annabel Stephan, 19 players have committed to USC for the 2012-13 recruiting class at some point, and six have decommitted from the Trojans, or 31% of their class. USC will have a lot of scrambling to do before National Signing Day to ensure that its class stays as intact as possible.
