Derrick Green to commit Saturday: Michigan bound?

The nation’s best high school running back is set to announce his college choice, and Michigan appears to be the school to beat.

Running back recruit Derrick Green will make his college choice on Saturday, Jan. 26. Green is a consensus five-star recruit, and arguably the top high school running back in the country.

“I have decided to make my college announcement on January 26, 2013 at 4:00 pm,” Green wrote in a Facebook message. “Truly Blessed!!!!”

Green has narrowed his college choices to Tennessee, Michigan and Auburn. Michigan is thought to be in very good shape to land Green. The Wolverines have done a good job selling his parents on football and the school’s academics. But all three schools will have made the all-important in-home visits before he makes his choice.

Green finished his senior season at Hermitage (Va.) High School with 1,285 yards rushing and 20 touchdowns. He put up these numbers despite sitting out a total of 17 quarters because his team often had large leads. He ran for 1,500 as a junior in 2011.

While we’re here, let’s watch some of the many fine college football videos from SB Nation’s YouTube channel:
