Ole Miss football recruiting: Robert Nkemdiche, Laremy Tunsil visiting Rebels

Friday’s visitors are highlighted by the nation’s top recruit, Robert Nkemdiche, who is widely reported to be leaning toward a commitment to Ole Miss. Nkemdiche, whose brother plays for the Rebels, was a Clemson verbal commit until early November before reopening his recruitment. While Florida and LSU remain in play, Ole Miss is seen as the leader entering the final stretch before Signing Day.

I think Nkemdiche is already a silent commitment to the Rebels, and many believe he is privately recruiting for Ole Miss. He could go public this weekend, or could wait until National Signing Day. Either way, there’s little doubt he is headed to Ole Miss.

Also visiting Oxford this weekend is five-star offensive tackle Laremy Tunsil from Lake City, Fla. Tunsil is arguably the nation’s top offensive line prospect and one of the finest recruits in the nation. He has made official visits to Georgia and Alabama, and has a visit scheduled with Florida State on February 1. Ole Miss is reportedly on the outside looking in for his commitment.

Ole Miss seems to be a long shot for Tunsil, who is likely down to Georgia and Alabama. But any time a prospect takes a visit, it’s a chance for a school to make an impression and firmly join in the race. Ole Miss has something special going on this year, and I would not completely count out the Rebels.

Two four-star recruits are also scheduled to be in Oxford this weekend. Running back Kalio Moore, who committed to Ole Miss earlier this month, will be on campus. He will be accompanied by cornerback/athlete Jeryl Brazil, who gave a verbal commitment to LSU on January 20.

A handful of other uncommitted players will be visiting this weekend, including tight end Arshad Jackson, wide receiver Quincy Adeboyejo, and cornerback David Kamara. Ole Miss verbal commit Peyton Barber is also scheduled to visit.

I don’t think Ole Miss can flip Brazil, but it does have a shot with Jackson. That Barber cancelled a visit to Texas is a good sign for the Rebels.
