College football recruiting: Jordan Prestwood once again has options, taking visits

Four-star offensive tackle Jordan Prestwood has added numerous offers from the SEC, Florida State and Oklahoma.

Jordan Prestwood

Jordan Prestwood has had an interesting recruitment. A four-star offensive tackle out of Arizona Western Community College, Prestwood originally enrolled in January of 2011 at Florida State, quickly transferred to Notre Dame, and then left the Irish in 2012. He was planning to enroll at UCF in 2013, but that didn't work out, so he ended up in junior college.

Prestwood now has his second shot to play major college football. Thanks to very impressive size (6’6, 310 pounds), athleticism, and film at Arizona Western, he holds offers from Auburn, South Carolina, Missouri, Oklahoma, Ole Miss and Texas A&M.

The common threads with most of the schools? Immediate playing time and familiarity with the coaching staffs, since they recruited him out of high school.

Prestwood is set to officially visit the Seminoles this weekend to watch Florida State take on N.C. State. And he says there are no hard feelings between him and the school resulting from his early departure in 2011.

“I was immature back then with my recruiting process and didn’t take my time with it,” Prestwood said. “I told Florida State when I went out to Arizona, and they said to send some film and they liked it and offered and are bringing me in on a visit.”

As with any JUCO player, Prestwood is very focused on the opportunity for playing time.

“I follow Florida State’s depth chart for offensive tackle closely, I know I’d have a chance to play there right away,” he said. “And I know the staff well.”

Prestwood is originally from Plant City (Fla.) in the Tampa area. He says that he is considering SEC schools and Florida State in part because of the location.

“I’m almost at the end of my college football journey, and I do want to play somewhere that my family can see me play,” he said. “And SEC schools and Florida State can win a national championship.”

But Prestwood, who is a December grad/January enrollee, is not planning to commit until after he takes four visits to schools. While he does not have the visits planned out, he wants to take his time with the process this time around.
