Shai McKenzie, a four-star running back out of Washington High School in Pennsylvania, is expected to commit to either Pittsburgh or Virginia Tech on Thursday. McKenzie received interested from a handful of schools and took official visits to Georgia Tech, Florida State, Virginia Tech and Pitt earlier this year.

McKenzie is viewed as one of the top running backs in the 2014 class.


At 5’11 and 210 pounds, McKenzie has the size and quickness to play early in college. He is regarded as the 13th-best running back and the 230th-best overall prospect in the 2014 class by 24/7Sports’ composite rankings. Here are some highlights of McKenzie in action last year:
Both the Panthers and Hokies would benefit from adding the four-star prospect to their 2014 class. Virginia Tech currently has a top-25 class, thanks to a couple of recent pledges. The addition of McKenzie would likely move them into the top 20. The Panthers’ current class is ranked 46th by 24/7’s composite team rankings.
