National Signing Day came and went last Wednesday without 2013 Rosenberg (Texas) Terry wide receiver Derrick Griffin putting ink to paper, so the the 6-7, 215-pounder visited Auburn last weekend for an official visit:
Former Texas A&M commit Derrick Griffin visited Auburn last weekend
The four-star wide receiver didn’t sign with the Aggies after being committed for over year.

The specter of academic difficulties hung over Griffin really from the moment that he committed to A&M during the Army Bowl week back in early 2012. As a result, the Aggies declined to send him a letter of intent to sign. Griffin also hasn’t signed with a junior college either, so he’s apparently holding out hope he can qualify late to gain entrance somewhere.
If he does, that school may now be Auburn, a school the big wide receiver and basketball standout had planned on visiting in January before that trip got delayed. Griffin had tweeted the night before Signing Day that he wanted to get to College Station because Aggie fans “always have my back.”
The 2013 US Army All-American had been making some noises in recent days about signing this week, but it’s no longer clear if that will happen.
A consensus four-star prospect, Griffin is ranked as the no. 5 wide receiver in the 247Sports composite rankings, as well as the no. 40 prospect in the country.
He also had some academic advice for young players with aspirations of playing college football or basketball:
I'm the kinda person I want the best fa everyone!!! But if you tryna go somewhere go hard freshman year #iloveallmyfriendsandfamily
