4-star Kendall Fuller joins brothers, signs with Virginia Tech

Kendall Fuller could very well be paired in a defensive backfield with his older brother, Virginia Tech starting cornerback Kyle Fuller, as the top cornerback recruit committed to be the fourth brother in his family to play Hokie football. Follow @SBNationCFB Follow @SBNRecruiting

Kendall Fuller, considered by some to be the top cornerback in the nation, decided to follow in the footsteps of his three brothers and sign with Virginia Tech, as expected. Read SB Nation's Gobbler Country on what the Fuller signing means for the Hokies defense:

Fuller’s commitment helps to bolster a glaring weakness going forward for the Hokies: cornerback depth. After retooling positions in the secondary in the spring and the decisions of Jayron Hosley to forego his senior season and James Farrow to transfer closer to home, the Hokies found themselves with only five scholarship cornerbacks on their roster. The Hokies already have at least one other projected cornerback in the 2013 recruiting class, but the commitment of Fuller should ensure future success at one of Tech’s trademark positions.

Fuller is the brother of former Virginia Tech and Tennessee Titans safety Vincent Fuller, Kyle Fuller, a cornerback named to the 2012 all-ACC second team who just finished his junior year with the Hokies, and Corey Fuller, a recently graduated wide receiver with the Hokies. That said, it’s not like his decision was made out for him by his family ties: the cornerback considered Clemson up until the very end, a decision he discussed with SB Nation’s Bud Elliott at the time.

The Army All-American from Olney, Maryland is definitely among the top players at his position, ranked as the No. 1 cornerback by Rivals. There’s a chance of a defensive backfield featuring both the younger Fuller and his older brother, as Kyle is the presumptive starter and the 5-foot-11 incoming recruit has the skills to play right away. Kyle Fuller started seven games as a freshman, and Kendall Fuller might be up to the task from the start as well.
