Terrell Newby signs with Nebraska: Four-star tailback joins Cornhuskers

Newby elected for the Big Ten powerhouse instead of staying home in California and representing the Pac-12.

USA TODAY Sports

The Nebraska Cornhuskers get after it on the recruiting trail. That was the case yet again in 2013, and with a full class of talented prospects set to pledge their talents on National Signing Day, the Huskers should feel good about their program moving forward.

One of the more exciting offensive players to sign with Nebraska is running back Terrell Newby out of Chaminade High School in West Hills, Calif. Newby has officially signed with the Cornhuskers after sending in his National Letter of Intent.

Newby is one of two standout running backs to sign with Nebraska this year. Along with four-star tailback Adam Taylor, who committed to the school back in November, coach Bo Pelini and his offensive staff should have plenty of weapons out of the backfield for years to come.

Ratings: Newby is a consensus four-star recruit.

Vitals: Newby checks in at 5’10 and 190 pounds. He should beef up considerably after spending some time in the NU weight room.

Other offers: Newby had at least 12 offers on the table from programs all over the country, including Arkansas, California, Ole Miss, UCLA and Washington. It was believed Newby might take a late visit to UCLA, but that reportedly never happened.

Twitter: Terrell is not currently on Twitter.

Recruitment timeline: Newby committed to Nebraska on Jan. 9, 2013. He took his official visit to the school in September. Check out what SB Nation’s blog, Corn Nation, had to say about the four-star running back’s commitment last month.
