The Oregon Ducks had the rug pulled out from under them when coach Chip Kelly suddenly bolted for the NFL. UO acted quickly to hire offensive coordinator Mark Helfrich as their new head coach, but that still didn't stop a handful of recruits from looking at other schools around the country.

Carrington checked out a couple of other Pac-12 programs following Chip Kelly’s departure, but in the end, he felt the Ducks were the team for him.

One of the top offensive prospects UO secured for the 2013 class is wide receiver Darren Carrington. The four-star receiver out of San Diego checked out a couple of Pac-12 schools before sticking with his pledge and signing with Oregon.
Now, with the recruiting process over, Carrington can focus on hitting the weight room and preparing for next season. Given his speed and playmaking ability down the field, Carrington could play early in Eugene if he’s able to pick up the offensive scheme in fall camp.
Ratings: Carrington is a consensus four-star recruit. Rivals.com rates him as the 174th best prospect in the 2013 class.
Vitals: He checks in at 6’2 and 187 pounds. Carrington has the quickness to profile as a slot receiver, although he could bulk up and move to the outside wideout position.
Other offers: Carrington had offers to most Pac-12 schools, as well as a couple of Big Ten powerhouses in Michigan and Ohio State.
