The Texas A&M Aggies are stocking up on defensive tackles in the 2013 class in an effort to remain competitive in the SEC, with a group that includes Houston (Texas) Westfield’s Hardreck Walker, who signed with the Aggies on Wednesday.
Hardreck Walker signs with Texas A&M
The Houston (Texas) Westfield product is part of a deep A&M defensive tackle group in the 2013 class.

A consensus four-star prospect, the 6’2, 282-pounder is ranked as the no. 28 defensive tackle nationally by the 247Sports composite rankings and the no. 43 prospect in the state of Texas. Prior to his commitment to A&M, he held offers from Arizona, Arkansas, Auburn, Michigan, Missouri, Northwestern, Oklahoma, Texas Tech, and West Virginia.
At the time of his commitment, Walker had this to say about his pledge:
I love Coach Sumlin. I feel like he has the program headed in the right direction. This jump to the SEC is going to be big for them and I feel like I can help them bring back the Wrecking Crew
As a prospect, Walker isn’t overwhelmingly impressive in any one facet of the game. However, he does have solid athleticism and possesses adequate size and strength to transition to the next level, as well as some ability to use his hands effectively both against the run and the pass.
As a result, Walker doesn’t project as an all-conference type of player, but he should be able to contribute and may eventually become a solid college starter.
