If anyone questions your love for following every twist and turn of National Signing Day, tell them you’re in good company. President Barack Obama apparently follows the recruiting trail, too.
President Obama congratulates Alabama on recruiting Reuben Foster
Everybody follows college recruiting these days -- even the leader of the free world.

During a call Tuesday to congratulate the Baltimore Ravens on winning Super Bowl XLVII, the nation’s most powerful sports fan made reference to Crimson Tide recruit Reuben Foster, who committed to Alabama on Monday night.
“You guys just got another draft pick down there, a guy who already tattooed Auburn on his arm and then decided to go to Alabama instead,” Obama told Ravens general manager Ozzie Newsome, who’d made reference to Alabama’s upcoming visit to the White House in honor of the Crimson Tide’s BCS championship.
Even if he didn’t call him by name, that Obama was referring to Foster, one of the nation’s top linebacker recruits, was clear when the president mentioned the Auburn tattoo.
Foster will now be signing to play with the Tigers’ intrastate rivals, Alabama.
The president, meanwhile, has other places to turn his attention. After all, he’s got entire day’s worth of announcements to follow.
You do, too.
