Oklahoma safety Steven Parker taking Texas visits

The Jenks (Ok.) safety was just in College Station and is now headed to Austin.

One of the top players in the state of Oklahoma for the 2014 class, Jenks (Ok.) safety Steven Parker has seen his recruitment take off this spring and is now up to around 15 offers.

Parker is on spring break and took the opportunity to make a trip down to the Lone Star State. On Wednesday, Parker visited College Station to check out the Aggies ($) and will be in Austin on Thursday to find out more about the Longhorns.

The visit to A&M was apparently an enjoyable one for Parker:

The Aggies have already extended an offer, but whether or not Parker has an offer from the Longhorns is not as clear. Both Rivals and ESPN report an offer from Texas, but 247Sports does not have one listed for him.

In any case, Parker should leave Austin with a committable offer, as defensive backs coach Duane Akina has been expanding his search for defensive backs outside the state lines in recent weeks as the ‘Horns have struggled to secure commitments from in-state players.

A consensus four-star prospect in the 247Sports composite ranking, Parker is ranked as the fifth-best player in the state of Oklahoma by that service and a top-20 safety nationally. Rivals has the 6-2, 175-pound prospect as the second-best player in the Sooner state, behind Norman quarterback David Cornwell and ahead of star defensive end Deondre Clark, who is an extremely impressive player in his own right. SoonerScoop.com named Parker as their Oklahoma Junior of the Year after he helped Jenks to a state title.

Among the 15 or so offers for Parker are invitations to play at Alabama, Michigan, Nebraska, Oklahoma, and Oklahoma State.
