Alabama grabs a top linebacking recruit.

Bud Elliott, SB Nation National Recruiting Analyst, says that Hamilton is an extremely powerful linebacker who punishes ball carriers. He is quite quick for his size, but is a better run defender than an asset against the pass due to somewhat limited lateral agility.
Hamilton is a consensus four-star prospect and rated the No. 14 linebacker by 247 Sports’ composite rankings. Rivals and 247 Sports’ own people give him four stars and rank him as the No. 11 and No. 12 inside linebacker in his class, respectively. Scout isn’t quite as high on Hamilton, pegging him at three stars and the 18th-best middle linebacker.
Watson has his academics in order and is on track to graduate in December and participate in spring practice. Hamilton has a 4.0 and could be the valedictorian of his class.
This is the fourth commitment of the 2014 class for Alabama and the second marquee prospect out of their home state. Bo Scarborough, a five-star athlete from Tuscaloosa, pledged to stay at home with the Crimson Tide last September. Hamilton and Scarborough join Georgia natives Kalvaraz Bessent and Chris Wiliams. Both hail from Camden County High School in Kingsland.
