The Opening 2013: Notre Dame commits ready to represent Irish

The strong 2014 Fighting Irish class is sending a sizable contingent to Oregon.

The Notre Dame Fighting Irish currently have the No. 9 class nationally in the 247Sports team composite rankings, so it's no surprise that prospects committed to head coach Brian Kelly and his program are set to compete at The Opening.

QB DeShone Kizer, Toledo (Ohio) Central Catholic: The 6’5, 210-pound Kizer is an excellent prospect with a consensus four-star rating. At the talent-rich Columbus Elite 11 Regional Camp on June 1, he was the only QB invited to the Elite 11 and the Opening after that day’s action. He passed for 1,150 yards and 10 TDs last season while rushing for 540 yards and four touchdowns. Kizer committed to Notre Dame in mid-June over offers from two dozen universities including Alabama, Arkansas, LSU, Michigan State, North Carolina, Penn State, Syracuse and Tennessee. Kizer is on Twitter @DKizer_14, and his highlights are available here.

WR Justin Brent, Speedway, (Ind.): Brent caught 54 balls for 992 yards and 13 touchdownss last season and is rated by 247Sports as the No. 122 player nationally, with the same service ranking him as the top player in the state of Indiana. Also an outstanding basketball prospect, the 6'1, 190-pounder was one of the top overall players at the Columbus NFTC. Find him on Twitter @JustinBrent23.

RB Elijah Hood, Charlotte (N.C.) Catholic: Hood had the top SPARQ rating at the Nike Football SPARQ Combine in Charlotte when he ran a 4.56 in the 40 and jumped 37 inches in the vertical for a 108.84 SPARQ total score. The Notre Dame commit is recruiting hard for the Irish and performed on the football field last fall as well, rushing for 2,868 yards and 45 touchdowns with a 12.9 average per carry. The stocky 6'0, 220-pounder is a consensus four-star prospect and listed as an athlete because of his ability as a linebacker. Check him out on Twitter @EHood34.
