The Texas Longhorns flexed some old-school recruiting muscle at their Sunday mini-camp on Sunday, picking up three pledges from 2015 prospects, the final pledge of which came from Buda (Texas) Hays Consolidated offensive tackle Connor Lanfear.

Along with Lufkin (Texas) athlete Keke Coutee, former TCU commit Johnny Shaw, a safety from Center (Texas), and the 6’6, 275-pound Lanfear, the 2015 class for the ‘Horns now sits at six pledges. A somewhat under-the-radar prospect in the early going of 2015 recruiting, Lanfear committed to the ‘Horns without any other offers and was not ranked in the initial edition of the 2015 LSR Top 100 for the state of Texas.
Lanfear picked up his offer after his camp performance on Sunday, but why did he end his recruitment so quickly? It was always pretty simple for him.

Of the six pledges for Texas in the 2015 class, position coach Stacy Searels has loaded up on offensive lineman quickly in a class that has more talent a relatively weak 2014 in-state group, having secured pledges from Sherman (Texas) offensive guard Aaron Garza and Keller (Texas) offensive lineman Maea “Tristan” Teuhema. Since the ‘Horns do not yet have an offensive tackle pledge in the 2014 class, landing at least one in 2015 was a major priority, so Lanfear fills a significant need in that regard.
