LEANDER, Texas -- When the recruiting process started, Lufkin (Texas) wide receiver Jamal Jeffery only really needed to receive one offer -- from childhood favorite Texas A&M.
How solid is Texas A&M WR commit Jamal Jeffery?
Is the longtime Aggie pledge still talking to other schools?
His father was always a fan of the Aggies while he grew up and the move to the SEC only strengthened his feelings. So when Jeffery was offered last fall, he took some time to think about -- more than two months -- but eventually committed to Texas A&M in December.
Since then, no other schools have joined his recruitment with an offer, but Jeffery did tell SB Nation Recruiting that he is open to hearing more from Arkansas, as he has been building a relationship with the new staff in Fayetteville. Less likely is anything happening with LSU. The 5’9, 170-pound receiver said he would listen to a pitch from the Tigers, but with LSU likely to land in-state talents like Malachi Dupre, Speedy Noil, and Trey Quinn, major interest for Jeffery from Les Miles and company seems unlikely at this time.
Jeffery also spoke with GigEm247’s Taylor Hamm at the Texas 7on7 State Championship, discussing his lofty goals for his senior season and whether he is locked in to the wide receiver position if he makes it to College Station as currently planned. The Lufkin product did also tell Hamm that he is “solid” to Texas A&M.
