Washington football recruiting: Erik Brown commits at The Opening
Washington’s ability to recruit top wide receivers continues, as the Huskies landed 4-star Erik Brown at Nike’s The Opening.

Brown, who plays for Fontana (Calif.) Summit, becomes just the seventh player to join the Huskies in the Class of 2014, but he’s the second four-star wide receiver, joining Rahshead Johnson, also a top recruit from Southern California. They also have a four-star tight end in Chase Blakley, and had landed a four-star wide out the year before in Darrell Daniels, so Washington quarterbacks in future years will have no shortage of talented pass-catchers to throw to.
The 6’1, 170-pounder is ranked as the No. 17 wide receiver in the nation and No. 12 player in California, per 247’s composite ranking. He had offers from over half of the squads in the Pac-12, including a SoCal school in UCLA and Washington’s Apple Cup rivals, Washington State, as well as Arizona, Arizona State, Cal, Oregon State. He also boasted offers from nationally elite schools like Notre Dame, Nebraska, and Boise State. He ran a 4.62 at The Opening, but did not fully participate in all drills.
