Trai Mosley surprised by Nebraska offer, commitment

The consensus three-star prospect didn’t need much time deciding to become a ‘Husker.

LEANDER, Texas -- The commitment of Pflugerville (Texas) Hendrickson cornerback Trai Mosley to the Nebraska Cornhuskers in June came as a bit of a surprise to 'Husker fans -- after all, his best offer at the time was from SMU and he's not currently ranked among the top 200 prospects in the state of Texas in the 247Sports composite ranking.

Since then, Baylor extended an offer to Mosley towards the end of June to solidify the consensus three-star prospect’s perception as a BCS-level athlete among college coaches.

SB Nation Recruiting caught up with Mosley at Texas State 7on7 to discuss his commitment to Nebraska and what the coaches like about the 5’10, 170-pounder.

“I liked the coaching staff,” Mosley revealed when asked why he needed only a brief discussion with his parents to commit after receiving his offer. “I really liked the fact that even thought it’s an out-of-state school, that they had a lot of Texas players. And the facilities are awesome, too.”

Mosley described the offer as a bit of a surprise -- even though Nebraska had been down to evaluate him during the spring, the coaching staff had merely told him that they might have something for him on his visit.

The Cornhusker staff told him that they like his footwork, speed, hips, and ability to play multiple positions in the secondary. In preparation for his senior season, Mosley is working on his form tackling to more consistently make stops.
