Florida State recruiting: Fisher bringing in another top-10 class

The Seminoles may not have the top class in the ACC, but their 2014 haul could be the tops in the end.

Charles LeClaire-USA TODAY Sport

Florida State has had the top recruiting class in the ACC each of the past four years, but that streak could be in jeopardy this season -- through no fault of the Seminoles.

Jimbo Fisher’s 2014 class currently ranks sixth in the 247sports composite team rankings. That places them at second in the conference, behind a Miami team that has seen a recruiting resurgence this year under Al Golden.

The Seminoles’ class is nearly set, as they expanded to 24 commitments in late September with the addition of four-star Pope John XXIII (N.J.) tight end Ryan Izzo.

Kain Daub is the star of Florida State’s class. The inside linebacker from Sandalwood (Fla.) High School is considered a four-star prospect by the 247sports composite. He is ranked as the third-best inside linebacker in the country and the sixth-best player in the state.

Markell Pack is one of the top players in the Seminoles’ class. The wide receiver is from Purvis (Miss.) High School and is rated as a four-star player. He is considered the 22nd-best wide receiver in the country and the third-best player in the state.

Demarcus Christmas is another big get for Fisher. The defensive tackle out of Manatee (Fla.) High School is considered to be a four-star, and he is rated as the No. 13 defensive tackle in the country and the No. 19 player in the state.

Dexter Wildeman is another top D-lineman for the ‘Noles The defensive tackle is from Saluda (S.C.) High School and is rated as a four-star prospect. He is ranked as the 14th-best defensive tackle in the country and the fifth-best player in the state.

Jacob Pugh brings more talent to FSU’s front seven. The outside linebacker from Amos P. Godby (Fla.) High School is considered a four-star player, and he is rated as the 13th-best outside linebacker in the country and the 21st-best player in the state.

Top targets

Offensive line is the big priority for the Seminoles in the 2014 class. With three already in the fold, FSU will look to double that. Four-star offensive tackle Roderick Johnson, of Missouri, is considered a very strong lean to the Seminoles. Florida State is also after Frank Ragnow, an offensive tackle from Minnesota.

And running back T.J. Harrell, of Tampa is also a top target, as FSU wants to take 2-3 running backs in the class.

Florida State will look to take close to 30 players in the 2014 class.
