Keyon Brown commits to Georgia: Bulldogs get star recruit

The Bulldogs picked up another blue chip prospect on Thursday.

Defensive end Keyon Brown, a consensus four-star prospect from Wauchula (Fla.) Hardee Senior High School in the Class of 2014, committed to play for Georgia on Thursday. Brown picked the Bulldogs over offers from Florida State and Miami, as well as several other power-conference schools, including Clemson, Tennessee, Ole Miss, Michigan State, Mississippi State, Arizona State and Rutgers.

Brown, who stands 6’3 and weighs 230 pounds, is considered a four-star recruit by 247Sports, Rivals and Scout. Rivals rates him the highest of the bunch, considering him the No. 5 player at defensive end, while 247Sports has him 13th at his position and Scout has him 18th. He is widely regarded as one of the top 25 players from the state of Florida.

Brown took an official visit to Georgia last weekend, according to 247Sports’ timeline, and it appears that helped to seal the deal for him. Georgia was one of the teams Brown named in his top five in July, along with FSU, Miami, Clemson and Tennessee.
