UCLA football recruiting: 4-star CB Adarius Pickett commits to Bruins

Pickett, who currently plays for El Cerrito (Calif.) High School, is listed as a four-star prospect by 247Composite. Standing 5’11 and weighing in at 175 pounds, he reportedly runs a 4.6-second 40-yard dash. Pickett has 19 offers from schools around the country, and he chose the Bruins over Arizona State, Cal, Nebraska, Stanford and USC, among others.

Pickett had an unofficial visit to UCLA over the weekend, a trip that obviously played a major role in his decision.

He’s the No. 15 cornerback in the country, per 247, and the 13th-best player in the state of California. SB Nation recruiting analyst Derrell Warren likes Pickett and says the DB’s frame gives him room to grow:

Pickett may not have ideal size, but he carries a strong frame that could hold up to 10 or more pounds of additional weight. In addition, he is rangier than usual for a player of his height.

Pickett has a strong-looking frame and great length for his size. At this stage in his development he seems most comfortable lining up in press-man. That said, he doesn’t often get his hands on the receiver, so development of his jamming technique is needed in order to maximize his effectiveness in press-man situations.

Warren believes Pickett can be an impact player for the Bruins over the next few years:
