Ohio State commit Demetrius Knox planning visit to UCLA

Will the talented offensive guard end up committing to his third school?

The recruiting prowess of UCLA Bruins offensive line coach Adrian Klemm may pay off again for the Bruins, as a home visit on Tuesday convinced Fort Worth (Texas) All Saints offensive guard Demetrius Knox to take an official visit to Westwood on January 31.

An Ohio native and Ohio State Buckeyes pledge since late June of 2013, Knox had been committed to the Texas Longhorns early in the recruiting cycle before decommitting in April of 2013 and then announcing his intentions to head home for college. The Longhorns could attempt to enter the picture again with a new coaching staff after stopping by All Saints last week to visit Knox.

Ohio State offensive coordinator Tom Herman also visited Knox five days ago to help reaffirm the commitment of the 6’4, 300-pounder, but those efforts were not enough to withstand the home visit from UCLA, a school that Knox had named his leader just a week before committing to the Buckeyes.

The consensus four-star prospect is a US Army All-American and The Opening alum ranked as the No. 5 offensive guard nationally, the No. 15 player in the state, and the No. 97 prospect nationally in the 247Sports Composite rankings. Knox also holds offers from Alabama, Baylor, Florida, Florida State, Louisville, LSU, Miami, Michigan, Nebraska, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Ole Miss, Oregon, TCU, Texas A&M, Texas Tech, and Washington.

Prior to Knox’s commitment to Ohio State, TCU had been trending in the 247Sports Crystal Ball rankings for Knox, but do not appear to be a contender at this time.

With Klemm having experienced so much success in landing talented offensive linemen since his arrival at UCLA in 2011, Ohio State fans and coaches are surely sweating the news that Knox will take an official visit to see the Bruins.

Will Knox’s lifelong ties to Ohio State be enough for the Buckeyes to hold onto his pledge or will the charismatic Klemm convince Knox to take his talents to Westwood?

Welcome to the race to National Signing Day, where there’s always drama to spare.
