4-star quarterback K.J. Carta-Samuels commits to Washington

The younger brother of Austyn chose the Huskies over Arizona, Penn State and Vanderbilt, among others.

K.J. Carta-Samuels, one of the country’s top pro-style quarterbacks, committed to Washington on Wednesday. Carta-Samuels drew interest from plenty of power-conference programs, including Arizona, Penn State, Wisconsin, Notre Dame, and Oregon.

The San Jose (Calif.) Bellarmine Prep star is 6’2 and weighs 210 pounds. He is a consensus four-star prospect according to the 247Sports composite rankings, as well as the No. 9 pro-style QB in the 2014 class and the No. 211 overall player.

Rivals considers Carta-Samuels the No. 220 overall prospect in the nation and the 11th-best player at his position. Scout has him 23rd among quarterbacks and doesn’t rank him among its overall top 300. ESPN considers him the 13th-best pro-style quarterback and the No. 270 overall prospect.

Carta-Samuels’ older brother, Austyn, was the starting quarterback at Vanderbilt in 2013.
