Andy Bauer Recruit Scouting Report

Offensive lineman Andy Bauer is one of the most highly decorated prospects from Missouri in the 2014 class. He has scholarship offers from a bunch of power-conference programs, including Missouri, Ole Miss, Alabama, Auburn, Baylor, Arizona State, Arkansas, Florida State, Georgia and Michigan.

Bauer, a consensus four-star recruit, played at DeSmet Jesuit High School in St. Louis. The 6’6, 304-pounder could end up playing either guard or tackle at the college level, and he’ll be showcasing his skills in the 2014 Under Armour All-American Game.

ESPN and 247Sports, which both project him at tackle, consider him a top-15 player at that position. ESPN ranks him 82nd among all players in the 2014 class, and 247Sports has him at No. 114. Scout and Rivals both project him at guard -- Scout rates him ninth at that position; Rivals places him at No. 5.

You can follow Bauer on Twitter here.

Bud Elliott, National Recruiting Analyst: Bauer is shorter than his listed 6’6, being closer to 6’4 or maybe 6’3.5. He is well built, without a lot of bad weight.

I really like Bauer’s run blocking. He has a nasty temperament and finishes off his blocks quite well. He can sink his hips and drive defenders off the football, really bringing his feet and his strength.

Bauer’s aggressive nature also shows up in his pass blocking. He punches with great effort, but sometimes overextends himself and does not establish a great base. I do not think he has the lateral agility to play left tackle, and I somewhat wonder if he can hold up at right tackle. He is perhaps a better fit inside at guard due to his lack of length.

Regardless of position, Bauer is a very solid player who will make some team very happy.
