Don’t let the slight size fool you -- Johnnie Dixon may only be 5’11, 187 pounds, but he will make you pay if you forget him, running a solid 4.53 40. A wide receiver from Palm Beach Gardens’ (Fla.) Dwyer High School, Dixon is a consensus 4-star player in the 2014 class, and ranks out as the eighth best at his position, according to the 247sports composite.
Johnnie Dixon recruit-scouting-report: Deep threat
What does scouting Johnnie Dixon show about his abilities?

The Sunshine State native is considered to be among the top 15 players in Florida this year, as well as among the top 75 players in the country. ESPN likes Dixon more than most other scouting services, placing him at 39th on its ESPN300, while Scout has a less favorable evaluation of Dixon than its competitors, ranking him at 29th among all receivers in the 2014 class.
He has offers from at least 25 reported programs, including elite, headliner type schools like Ohio State, Alabama, Auburn, Notre Dame, Oregon, Florida State and Clemson.
Bud Elliott, National Recruiting Analyst: Dixon’s stock has risen so much during his senior year that he may now be overrated. But that doesn’t mean that he is a bad player. He’s quite good.
I think Dixon will top out around 200 or 210 pounds. He is already a somewhat thick player.
The best thing about Dixon is his long speed. He can really threaten a defense deep and a lot of corners are going to struggle to play the deep ball against him because he will quickly put them in a bind.
I am not in love with some of Dixon’s other receiving skills. He makes some excellent catches, but will then drop an easy ball, and he is not the most natural catcher of the football in the class.
For Ohio State to get the most out of Dixon, it will need to work on his hands, and his route running. Dixon has adequate route-running skills, but if he can make defenders respect him on underneath routes, he will be even better on the vertical routes that Urban Meyer’s offense loves to run.
