Five-star DT Daylon Mack decommits from the Texas A&M Aggies
The Aggies and head coach Kevin Sumlin just lost much of the recruiting momentum the program has sustained for several years now.
The recruiting fallout for the Texas A&M Aggies continued Friday afternoon after missing on five-star linebacker Malik Jefferson and four-star wide receiver DeAndre McNeal in the morning when Gladewater (Texas) defensive tackle Daylon Mack announced his decommitment via Twitter:
I have decomitted from Texas A&M and I will be releasing my top two schools around noon Saturday!
— THEE MACK TRUCK (@DaylonMack) December 19, 2014 The consensus five-star prospect, who is ranked as the No. 19 player nationally and the No. 4 defensive tackle, had walked the fine line between acting as a lead recruiter for the Aggies and taking visits.
When Mack pledged to Texas A&M in October of 2013, it had seemed likely only a matter of time before it happened. But he took a visit to Auburn in late February of 2014 and then took two more trips this fall -- an official visit to TCU and an unofficial visit to LSU. He plans on taking an official visit to Baton Rouge in January.
So it would seem that the Tigers and Horned Frogs are the frontrunners to take those two spots on Mack’s new list.
However, the Longhorns may also be players in Mack’s recruitment now -- he grew up a Texas fan and he’s friends with Jefferson and McNeal, the new Longhorns commits. In fact, McNeal said after pledging to the Horns that he’s going to attempt to recruit Mack to Austin. And one of the first things that Mack did when Jefferson pledged was to phone the five-star linebacker.
The conversation may have merely been an opportunity to extend congratulations to his friend, but since that call there have been six Crystal Ball predictions come in for Mack to Texas since Jefferson and McNeal pledged Friday morning.
As a result, TCU may be on the outside looking in when Mack releases his top schools Saturday.

With coaching changes at wide receivers coach, offensive line coach, and defensive coordinator, with no replacements found for any of those positions, the Aggies are suffering some serious losses on the recruiting trail for the first time under head coach Kevin Sumlin.
Is this is the end of it or will there be more misses and more decommitments for Texas A&M?
