Consensus four-star defensive tackle Daniel Cage signed with Notre Dame on National Signing Day, according to his high school coach. Cage, one of the top players from Ohio, holds scholarship offers from several power-conference programs, including Notre Dame, Florida, Nebraska, Tennessee, Georgia Tech, Arkansas, Indiana and Illinois. His finalists included Michigan State and Missouri.

Four-star defensive tackle Daniel Cage has decided to play for the Irish.


The 6’3, 295-pound Cage is coming off of several productive seasons at Cincinnati (Ohio) Winton Woods High School. As a junior in 2012, he had 18 tackles for loss, including 10 sacks.
Notre Dame’s class entered the day ranked No. 9 on the 247Sports Composite consensus rankings.
He is regarded as the No. 24 defensive tackle in the 2014 class and the No. 300 overall prospect, per the Composite. Scout is the most bullish on his future, ranking him 15th at his position. Rivals, on the other hand, considers him the No. 27 defensive tackle in the country and does not consider him one of the nation’s top 250 players. The same is true for ESPN, which ranks Cage outside its top 300.
