Tennessee commit reportedly treats visit to Auburn as recruiting mission for Vols

He was not there long.

Official visits are intended to be a time when a school can show off what they have to offer without the interference of any rivals. Intended to be. Auburn’s past weekend didn’t go entirely as planned, according to Rocky Top Insider.

The Tigers hosted four-star Georgia wide receiver Preston Williams, committed to Tennessee since September 2013, along with a number of other prospects.

Williams reportedly showed up wearing all Tennessee gear, attempting to recruit other kids to the Volunteers. From RTI:

The rumors out of Auburn were that Williams was “being a distraction” and “disrupting the weekend,” but we are hearing that Williams was actually asked to leave by Auburn staff members because he showed up wearing nothing but Tennessee apparel and was actively recruiting other visitors to join him at Tennessee.

He was sent home early, though the reason for that dismissal is disputed.

This wasn’t Williams’ first visit since committing to the Vols. He’s reportedly taken trips to Clemson, Florida, Georgia (twice) and Auburn before, although no previous incidents of him attempting to recruit other visitors have been reported.

Williams’ most recent tweet? Decked out in Vols orange with Coach Jones, of course.
