4-star WR Tren’Davian Dickson decommits from the Baylor Bears

The record-setting pass catcher should see his offer list expand rapidly over the coming weeks.

Kevin Jairaj-USA TODAY Sports

The strong start to the 2016 recruiting cycle for the Baylor Bears suffered a setback on Tuesday when Navasota (Texas) wide receiver Tren'Davian Dickson announced his decommitment via Twitter:

He is the national record holder for single-season touchdown receptions with 39 following a monster junior season that resulted in an undefeated record and state title for Navasota, Dickson gave an early commitment to head coach Art Briles last July, but saw interest in his services take off in the last several weeks.

Dickson now holds offers from TCU, Oklahoma, Texas A&M, Michigan State, Oklahoma State and North Carolina after each of those schools entered the prolific pass-catcher’s recruitment since January 21. As the 2016 recruiting cycle heats up as schools conduct evaluations of prospects around the country, Dickson should continue to see his offer list expand rapidly.

He’s ranked as the No. 149 prospect, the No. 36 wide receiver, and the No. 21 prospect in Texas, according to the 247Sports Composite rankings.

Other than his production, what makes him so special? How about the hands that he showed off in the state title game last December?

The 6’1, 178-pounder leaves Baylor with five pledges in a class that ranked No. 12 nationally and No. 2 in the Big 12 prior to his decommitment, according to the 247Sports Composite team rankings.
