One of the top offensive tackles in Texas is now back on the market with the recent decommitment of Jean Delance from the Oklahoma Sooners. The consensus four-star prospect spoke with SB Nation Recruiting while at The Opening's Dallas regional camp on Sunday in Arlington.
Sooners decommit Jean Delance discusses Oklahoma video controversy aftermath
What’s next for the consensus four-star prospect after his Oklahoma pledge ended in notable fashion?

Prior to his decommitment, he traveled to Norman for a Junior Day.
“I loved it,” he said. “The environment was friendly, the coaches were friendly, the teammates. It was real smooth and I liked it, but everything that happened was unexpected.”
Though Delance wasn’t willing to comment on the racist chant video from Oklahoma’s SAE fraternity that emerged the day after his visit to see the Sooners, he did explain his thought process to Bleacher Report following his decommitment:
I was disgusted. That’s not anything I want to be a part of. I know it’s just those few select people, and it’s not everybody [at Oklahoma]. It’s not like cancer where it’s going to spread all over.
But specifically, that chant ... they couldn’t get a couple [of] guys to say, “We can’t do that?”
I was disgusted.
Asked if he is still considering Oklahoma, Delance said “not specifically.” However, the coaching staff has been in contact with him in the days since his decommitment and he did say he was impressed by the campus-wide response to the video. Still, it had an impact on him, he said, as the above passage shows.
Delance recently picked up an offer from Texas and he’s had a couple Metroplex-area Longhorns signees in his ear about the program, including early enrollee linebacker Malik Jefferson and defensive end Charles Omenihu. “Make the move” was the message from Jefferson about the Horns.
A visit to Austin will happen at some point, but the 6’5, 281-pounder wasn’t sure when it would happen exactly.
He also plans on making it to College Station again after attending a Texas A&M Junior Day back in January. Contact with the coaching staff picked up again recently after slowing down following the departure of ace recruiter David Beaty to Kansas, leading to his offer in early March.
On a Junior Day visit to TCU, Delance said that the family bond stood out to him.
Delance doesn’t currently have any plans to release a top group of schools. Ranked as the No. 163 prospect overall, he’s the No. 16 offensive tackle and the No. 24 player in Texas, according to the 247Sports Composite rankings.
