5-star LB Caleb Kelly commits to Oklahoma over Oregon and Notre Dame
Kelly is ranked as the 25th-best player in the country.

Kelly, from Clovis West (Calif.), is rated as the fifth-best player in California, the third-best outside linebacker in the country and the the 25th-best player overall, according to the 247Sports composite ratings. At 6’3.25, 215 pounds, Kelly is a big player who has the body to be a Power 5 starter immediately.
Kelly ended up choosing Oklahoma, after the Sooners had been the perceived leader for quite some time. OU has recruited California well, getting 28 players from the state in the past 14 years, despite being so far away. Kelly told Rivals ($) that he liked graduate assistant Courtney “Chip” Viney, who, like Kelly, is from the Fresno area.
“I talk to coach Viney a lot, well of course, he is more of like a big brother he’ll call me ‘little bro’ and stuff like that. He is more of a big brother kind of guy, he’ll still do his little recruiting stuff - say certain stuff, it’s more words of wisdom and good luck and stuff like that,”
This is a solid pickup for Oklahoma, which has no other five-stars in this recruiting class. Kelly is by far the top-ranked player in OU’s class.
Oklahoma should be a College Football Playoff contender once again, but the Sooners could use Kelly’s services immediately, having to replace two outside linebackers, including star Eric Striker.
