Syracuse football can have trouble convincing top quarterback prospects to come play in upstate New York. But Tommy DeVito is as good as any quarterback the Orange have had recently. With new head coach Dino Babers installing his fast-paced offense, DeVito will be in a situation to succeed.
Syracuse has a talented QB commit to go with its new offense. No, seriously.
Good for Syracuse.

The No. 26 pro-style quarterback in the country is the top recruit committed to Syracuse in the class of 2017, and is not considering a second option or backup plan, he told SB Nation at The Opening’s Elite 11 final. He’s all-in for the Orange.
He committed to Syracuse in April, and appears quite excited to join an offense that should move at a breakneck pace.
What stuck out to him during his recruitment?
“Definitely the offense. High-scoring, high-paced offense, very explosive,” DeVito said. “It’s really a quarterback’s dream to be in it.”
Syracuse will get one year of Babers’ offense before DeVito shows up. He’s by no means a guarantee to start as a true freshman, but it doesn’t look like the coaching staff has ruled out that possibility.
“It depends how I go in,” he said. “My weight, my size, how quickly I learn the playbook, because they don’t really have a playbook; it’s more of hurry-up signals, that kind of stuff, so how quick I pick those up.”
