With just a few days left before National Signing Day, college coaches are pulling out all the stops. One school in particular, Mississippi State, is pushing hard for four-star receiver and Ole Miss commit D.D. Bowie, who is the No. 3 prospect out of Mississippi per the 247Sports Composite.
Mississippi State’s going all out to swipe one of Ole Miss’ best commits on Signing Day
Bulldog coaches are using the #WeWantDD hashtag in their efforts.

Bowie, who’s been verbally committed to Ole Miss since October 2015, is being heavily recruited by MSU. Coaches are even using #WeWantDD, that was started on Twitter by four-star running back and Mississippi State commit Kylin Hill.
Note the clever use of the hashtag, along with the Egg Bowl trophy, which the Bulldogs won with their 55-20 victory over the Rebels in November.
Seriously, look at the plethora (eight in total!) of MSU coaches that spent some time with Bowie on Thursday.
MSU’s efforts might be working, too. Bowie announced on Wednesday that he’s is going to have a commitment ceremony on Signing Day — even though he’s still an Ole Miss verbal commit. 247Sports lists Bowie as an even 43-percent split for him ending up at Ole Miss or MSU.
Here’s Red Cup Rebellion on what may have caused Bowie potentially wavering from his Ole Miss commitment.
The four-star wide receiver out of Morton, Miss. pledged to Ole Miss in October of 2015 and remains the highest-rated commit in Hugh Freeze’s 2017 class. He’s been rock solid for most of the time since, telling The Clarion-Ledger three months ago that there was “no doubt” he would be a Rebel. But Bowie’s commitment began to waver after his good buddy, five-star running back Cam Akers, picked Florida State in late December. The next week during check-in for the U.S. Army Bowl, Bowie voiced concern over Ole Miss’ ongoing NCAA investigation and said he would “find somewhere else” if the Rebels hadn’t learned their fate by Signing Day.
He told 247Sports at the time that he was “undecided.”
We’ll have to wait and see what happens with Bowie till Signing Day, but this whole situation is particularly interesting. MSU’s 2017 class currently has just one wide receiver in this year’s class, three-star Austin Williams.
