LOS ANGELES — Dorian Thompson-Robinson is one of the most talented quarterbacks in the 2018 recruiting class. Despite sitting behind class of 2017 Ohio State signee Tate Martell at Las Vegas (NV) Bishop Gorman School for two years, and having attempted just 48 career passes, Thompson-Robinson has picked up offers from the likes of Alabama, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, Louisville, LSU, Michigan, North Carolina, Oregon, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, and UCLA. He waited his turn, and now is his time to shine.

The dual-threat prospect is blowing up on the recruiting scene.
Thanks to being a verified 6’2 and 195 pounds, along with his ability to throw and move quickly without looking rushed, he is blowing up as a top-50 national prospect. And with a strong senior season, he could move into five-star territory.
In late February, Thompson-Robinson released a top 12 consisting of Alabama, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, Michigan, Nebraska, North Carolina, Oregon, South Carolina, Tennessee, UCLA, and UNLV.
At the Los Angeles Nike Opening Regional Camp Sunday he told SB Nation he plans to cut the list down again in the coming months. So we asked for a preview.
“UCLA and Michigan,” he said when asked which schools, if any, are certain to make his top five.
The reason is relationships. Thompson spoke highly of his relationship with both schools, and he had just come off a visit to UCLA which he described as “great.”
In an interesting twist, Michigan offensive coordinator Jedd Fisch left Michigan for UCLA, and Thompson-Robinson has a strong relationship with him.
Both schools run a pro-style offense, which resonates with Thompson-Robinson as he looks to develop his passing even more.
Many assume that because Thompson-Robinson’s mom, Melva, is a Michigan alumnus, that he will pick the Wolverines.
“They are way wrong. Most definitely,” Thompson-Robinson said of the idea that he is a lock to Michigan. “My mom wants what is best for me. She has four degrees already, and she wants me to go wherever I can get the degree for me, and be comfortable.”
Several teams back East are also emerging for Thompson-Robinson, who was born in South Carolina, including Alabama, Florida State, North Carolina, and South Carolina.
“FSU is my latest offer,” Thompson-Robinson said. It was one that he wanted, and it came after FSU coach Jimbo Fisher was able to see him throw at a seven-on-seven tournament in Las Vegas — something allowable under NCAA rule because Fisher’s oldest son Trey was playing in the event.
“I didn’t pay attention to it. I knew he was there, and knew he went to one of my games, but I was just focused on playing and doing my thing.”
But Thompson-Robinson has noticed that FSU offered him, even though Fisher hasn’t offered any in-state quarterbacks.
“Most definitely,” Thompson-Robinson said when asked if it meant something to him that Florida State offered him over any of the quarterbacks in the Sunshine State.
“They want quarterbacks to come and throw at camp, or on campus. And for me to not have to do that go get an offer, that’s really big.”
Thompson-Robinson’s upcoming visits include FSU, as well as Michigan, Alabama, and the Carolina schools.
