CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The Nike Opening Regional from Charlotte, N.C. got underway on Sunday morning, and four-star wide receiver Jordyn Adams, a talented dual-sport athlete, was one of many elite recruits on the field. SB Nation’s Alex Kirshner caught up with the Cary, N.C. (Green Hope) prospect on the latest with his recruiting process.
4-star QB-turned-WR Jordyn Adams explains 1 thing about each school in his top 5
The dual-sport prospect holds 18 offers.

As far as his playing style goes, Adams says he models his game after two well-known receivers — former Ohio State turned Houston Texans receiver Braxton Miller and former LSU and current New York Giants wideout Odell Beckham Jr. Adams said Miller’s ability to play different positions is something he can emulate.
“His versatility, he’s played different positions like I have,” Adams said of Miller. “His hands and his explosiveness with the football in his hands.”
Although Adams played quarterback during his junior season last year, he is listed by 247Sports as a wide receiver, and most schools are recruiting him as a receiver. Missouri is one school that’s considering him as a quarterback.
The four-star holds 18 offers, but he’s already trimmed that down to five schools: LSU, Alabama, Clemson, Ohio State, and UNC. Adams, who plays centerfield in baseball, is also being recruited to play on the baseball diamond at Clemson, LSU, and UNC. He gave us a quick briefing on what he likes most about his top five schools.
For Alabama, it’s all about winning titles.
“Winning national championships every year, basically, like they have in the previous years. And then also just what Coach Saban puts out in the draft.”
Clemson is a similar story, but the Tigers want him for baseball, too.
“They’re building up a good program, and they have a lot of draft picks every year. And then definitely playing baseball there, too.”
At UNC, Adams says he is close with Tar Heels wide receivers and recruiting coordinator Gunter Brewer.
But he’s got strong family ties in Chapel Hill, too — Adams’ father, Deke Adams, was hired as UNC’s defensive line coach in January. The coach was on Larry Fedora’s initial UNC staff in 2012, and he went on to coach at South Carolina and East Carolina before returning to UNC.
“Me and Coach Brewer, we have a really good relationship. We had one when my dad was there for about five years, so me and him have known each other for a while. And then baseball, they’re really recruiting me hard to come there too.”
Adams says playing baseball, as well as playing in the SEC, is what draws him to LSU.
Adams concludes by saying a professional baseball career “is a possibility,” but it’s not a top priority for him at this time.
