Emmitt Smith has a son who plays running back. It won’t surprise you that his running back son, EJ, is really good at playing running back.
Emmitt Smith’s son is now a star recruit, and his dad helped him announce a Florida scholarship offer
EJ Smith has a handful of major offers.

To that end, here are Emmitt and EJ announcing together on Tuesday that EJ had gotten a verbal scholarship offer Florida:
Emmitt Smith played his college ball in Gainesville, which might explain in part why he’s absolutely beaming in this announcement video. This was in the late 1980s:
EJ Smith is a class of 2020 prospect, i.e. a high school sophomore in the spring of 2018. He plays at Jesuit Dallas, in the same city where his dad ran for 17,162 of his NFL-record 18,355 ground yards. We’re a long way from EJ actually playing college football, but he’s already sporting listed offers from UF, Ohio State, and Georgia. That suggests Smith’s going to be a blue-chip prospect as his enrollment gets closer.
If you’re feeling old because 48-year-old Emmitt Smith has a kid who’s old enough to have scholarship offers from Urban Meyer, Kirby Smart, and Dan Mullen: You’re right. You’re very old. It won’t make you feel any younger knowing that younger ex-NFLers Patrick Surtain, Asante Samuel, and Joe Horn all had blue-chip sons in the class of 2018.
