Four-star defensive tackle Michael Thompson committed to Oklahoma on Wednesday, National Signing Day. The 6’3, 291-pound interior lineman was the 72nd-ranked player and No. 4 defensive tackle in the 2018 class, according to the 247Sports Composite. He had offers from all over the country and was considered to be picking between OU and Missouri.

The long-armed pass rusher makes his college decision.

Thompson has some pretty long arms and at the next level they can really become a weapon if he develops hand speed to compliment his good burst out of his stance. Thompson is the kind of player who can get his hands on you quickly and control a blocker. He was on our All-Opening team, which included the best 35 players out of the premier recruiting event of the summer.
Throughout his recruitment, hometown Mizzou factored into the process.
The four-star defensive tackle told Rivals’ Josh Helmholdt this week, “Mizzou, that is the only school I know for sure that is going to be on there because they are the home-state team and I get along with the coaches well.”
He decided the pull of OU outweighed all of that. And as yet another talented product of St. Louis, Thompson should have a productive college career.
