Texas, Ohio State schedule football games for 2022, 2023

National football powers Texas and Ohio State have solidified a home-and-home series that will take place a decade from now.

Spruce Derden-US PRESSWIRE - Presswire

The Texas Longhorns and Ohio State Buckeyes have agreed on a home-and-home series that will take place in 2022 and 2023.

The Longhorns will host the Buckeyes in Austin, Texas for the first game of the series, and will make a trip to Columbus, Ohio the following year in return.

The two schools have faced each other several times recently, meeting for the first time in 2005. That year, the Longhorns defeated the Buckeyes in Columbus and would eventually go on to win the national championship. The following year, Ohio State got its revenge on Texas in Austin. A little over two years later, the teams met again in the 2009 Fiesta Bowl, with the Longhorns capturing a last-minute win.

It’s hard to imagine where the teams will be a decade from now, but history says that they’ll both still be quite relevant in the national picture. 10 years ago, the Longhorns finished 11-2 and were ranked No. 6 in the final AP poll. Meanwhile, the Buckeyes capped off a 14-0 season with a national championship.
