The 2012 edition of the Red River Rivalry sends a pair of top 15-ranked teams to play in Dallas, as the No. 15 Texas Longhorns take on the No. 13 Oklahoma Sooners for what should be a very even matchup.

The Oklahoma Sooners are slight favorites over the Texas Longhorns in this year’s Red River Rivalry, as a pair of top 15 teams square off in the Cotton Bowl.

Each team only has a single loss on the season, with both squad falling to an undefeated team currently among the nation's top six teams. Landry Jones' team was ranked No. 4 coming into the season, but that fell apart after a 24-19 loss to Kansas State. Meanwhile, David Ash and the Longhorns had brought their ranking up to No. 11 when they faced West Virginia's high-powered offense last Saturday, putting up 45 points, but still losing the shootout by a field goal. Texas has the more convincing win on its schedule thus far, having beaten Oklahoma State in Stillwater, 41-36, thanks to a controversial late touchdown by Joe Bergeron. The best win Oklahoma has is a 41-20 win over Texas Tech.
The teams have split the last six editions of the rivalry game three apiece, with Oklahoma bringing home the past two.
