Oregon State at BYU game time, TV schedule, spread and more

No. 10 Oregon State will have a new starting quarterback when they go on the road to face BYU on Saturday.

Russ Isabella-US PRESSWIRE - Presswire

The Oregon State Beavers moved to 4-0 last week and rose to No. 10 in the Associated Press rankings, but they will now have to turn to backup quarterback Cody Vaz, with starter Sean Mannion out with a knee injury. Vaz will make his first collegiate start on Saturday when the Beavers go on the road to face the BYU Cougars.

Mannion was injured during the second half of OSU's win against Washington State and is expected to miss at least a few weeks. Vaz, who has not played in a game since 2010, will now attempt to keep the Beavers rolling. He won't have an easy return, as his first test will be against a BYU defense allowing just 8.8 points per game.

BYU has allowed 13 or fewer points in five of its six games this season. BYU is allowing 169.8 passing yards per game, the 12th-fewest in the nation. The Beavers have struggled to run the ball so far and Vaz will now be relied on to produce offense despite having very little in-game experience.

The Beavers won't be the only team with a different look at quarterback, as Riley Nelson will start for BYU after not playing in the last two games. Nelson dealt with back spasms earlier this season, but was replaced by freshman Taysom Hill recently. After Hill suffered a season-ending knee injury last week, Nelson is back in the starting lineup.

Saturday’s game could be a low-scoring affair, as both defenses rank in the top 25 in points allowed. Oregon State is 24th, allowing 17.0 points per game while BYU is third, allowing 8.8 points per game.

Game time, TV channel: 3:30 p.m. ET, ABC/ESPN (regional)

Point spread: BYU favored by 4 points
