Notre Dame vs. Stanford 2012 video highlights: Overtime goal-line stand preserves Irish win

The Notre Dame Fighting Irish stuffed Stepfan Taylor at the goal-line to preserve a 20-13 overtime victory and an undefeated season.

The Notre Dame Fighting Irish beat the Stanford Cardinal 20-13 in overtime thanks to another superb defensive effort and some timely fourth quarter plays by quarterbacks Everett Golson and Tommy Rees. Notre Dame's defense held Stanford's offense to 269 yards of offense and forced two big turnovers, but they saved their best for a goal-line stand in overtime.

Here are the highlights.

Notre Dame didn't allow an offensive touchdown in this game, but Stanford still managed to get a touchdown thanks to their defense. With Notre Dame up 3-0, Stanford defensive lineman Ben Gardner hit Golson in the end zone and linebacker Chase Thomas recovered to give the Cardinal a 7-3 lead. After a Stanford field goal made it 10-3 before halftime, it was Notre Dame responding with a big fourth quarter drive capped off by a Golson to Tyler Eifert connection to tie the game. Both teams would exchange long, protracted offensive drives that ended in field goals.

In overtime, Rees had to spell Golson in overtime, but he managed to find T.J. Jones for a touchdown catch to give Notre Dame the 20-13 lead. When it was Stanford's turn, the Cardinal managed to advance the football to the four-yard line for first and goal, but Stanford could not punch it in on four opportunities. It looked as if Stepfan Taylor had a chance on the final possession, but the officials ruled otherwise.

Notre Dame is now 6-0 on the season. Stanford falls to 4-2.
