The Texas Tech Red Raiders found the perfect antidote to the West Virginia Mountaineers this weekend. Texas Tech kept the West Virginia offense off the field on multiple occasions and then scored on the Mountaineer defense at will.

Seth Doege led the Texas Tech Red Raiders to a 49-14 shocker over the West Virginia Mountaineers, throwing six touchdowns and outperforming Geno Smith in Lubbock.

Seth Doege had an excellent game at quarterback for Texas Tech, throwing 32 of 42 for 499 yards, six touchdowns and one interception. Doege found Eric Ward in the corner of the end zone to make it 14-0 Red Raiders. Geno Smith and West Virginia managed to cut the lead to 14-7 on a connection to Stedman Bailey, but from then on it was all Doege.
Doege connected with Jace Amaro for 61 yards to set up another Texas Tech touchdown. Just before haltime, with the Red Raiders up 28-7, the pass-happy Red Raiders went to a change-up in the run game, and SaDale Foster went 53 yards into the end zone to make it 35-7 before halftime. A Doege connection to Darrin Moore in the third quarter put the game out of reach.
