Minnesota coach Jerry Kill released from hospital

Jerry Kill will return to coaching on Monday.

According to a tweet from ESPN’s Brett McMurphy, Minnesota Golden Gophers head coach Jerry Kill was released from the hospital this morning after suffering a seizure on Saturday and he will return to work on Monday.

Kill suffered the seizure after his post-game press conference following the Gophers' 21-13 loss to the Northwestern Wildcats on Saturday. He was taken to a hospital via ambulance and spent time in the hospital to undergo testing.

This wasn’t Kill’s first seizure. He has dealt with them for some time now and was diagnosed with kidney cancer in 2005 but the cancer is now in remission. The seizures, however, continue to be a problem.

According to ESPN’s Adam Rittenberg, the seizure was minor.

Kill has been defiant when people ask him why he continues to coach despite the seizures being a possible issue whenever he’s coaching.

“What the hell am I supposed to do? Stop? I mean, sit in the chair and wait for the next dang seizure to come along?” Kill said last year.

The Gophers are 4-2 this season but have lost their last two games to Iowa and Northwestern after starting the season 4-0.
