Minnesota, UNC walk away from future football series
Minnesota and North Carolina have cancelled their upcoming home and home series, which was scheduled for 2013 and 2014.

In the past several years, Minnesota has scheduled numerous teams from BCS conferences, including USC, Cal and Syracuse. However, the cancellation of the series with North Carolina means the Gophers won’t play a team from a BCS conference in their non-conference schedule until Oregon State in 2017. The university has not announced who will replace UNC on the schedule yet. Kent State has also been added to the Gophers’ 2015 schedule.
The Tar Heels still have South Carolina on the schedule in 2013, but will no longer have to play non-conference BCS opponents in back-to-back weeks to start the season. UNC is scheduled to play Ohio State in 2015 and 2017. They have also scheduled fairly adventurously in the past several years, including games against LSU, Louisville, Rutgers, and Connecticut.
