A.J. McCarron injury: Alabama QB reportedly has meniscus tear in knee

Alabama quarterback A.J. McCarron may have a meniscus tear in his knee, according to Russ Mitchell of FoxSports.com.

McCarron participated in practice on Monday and no official release has come from the university regarding the potential injury. McCarron completed 16-of-21 passes for 171 yards in Alabama’s 42-10 win over Missouri last Saturday.

In 2012, McCarron, a junior and second-year starter, has thrown for 1,170 yards and completed 67.4 percent of his passes while throwing 12 touchdowns and zero interceptions through six games this season.

The Crimson Tide have opened the season with six consecutive wins and ranked first in both the BCS and AP polls. McCarron was greatly lauded for his performance in the 2011 BCS National Championship game versus LSU when he completed 23-of-34 passes for 234 yards in Alabama’s 21-0 victory. McCarron hasn’t thrown an interception in his last nine games dating back to last season.

Alabama will travel to take on the 3-3 Tennessee Volunteers this Saturday.
