Northern Illinois vs. Akron 2012 results: Huskies smash Zips 37-7

The Northern Illinois Huskies cruised to a 37-7 victory over the Akron Zips on Saturday.

The Northern Illinois Huskies moved to 7-1 overall and 4-0 in the MAC, cruising to a 37-7 win over the hapless Akron Zips.

Northern Illinois sprinted out of the gates quickly, scoring the first 13 points of the game before Akron finally got on the board to make it 13-7. The rest of the game was all Huskies, as they scored the final 24 points of the game.

Northern Illinois rode a balanced attack to 528 yards of offense. The Huskies rushed for 305 yards and passed for 223 yards. They racked up 28 first downs to just 15 for Akron. The Zips managed only 199 yards of total offense.

Akron fell to 1-7 overall and 0-4 in the MAC.

Box Score Hero: Northern Illinois quarterback Jordan Lynch was a monster through the air and on the ground. Lynch passed for 223 yards and two scores while rushing for 131 yards and two more scores.

Rankings Ramifications: There were no rankings ramifications for this game.
