College football rankings, Week 9 AP Top 25: Oklahoma rises while South Carolina, West Virginia fall

Oklahoma jumped two spots from 10th to eighth while South Carolina fell eight spots to 17th and West Virginia dropped to 25th in the Week 9 AP Poll.

Florida defeated South Carolina, 44-11, on Saturday which resulted in them getting a single first place vote but they remain in third behind Oregon and Alabama in the poll. The top six teams from Week 8 all maintained their positions as Alabama remained in the top spot and LSU is the highest-ranked one-loss team at sixth.

Alabama remained in the top spot of the poll with a 44-13 win on the road versus Tennessee on Saturday. The Crimson Tide will host No. 13 Mississippi State and No. 6 LSU in the next two weeks.

No. 5 Notre Dame will travel to play No. 8 Oklahoma and No. 3 Florida will host No. 12 Georgia this Saturday in games that will have strong implications for next week’s polls.
