Florida State running back Chris Thompson is out for the remainder of his team's season with an ACL injury, Jimbo Fisher announced Monday. Thompson hurt his left knee in Saturday's game against the Miami Hurricanes. He was being tackled on a 32-yard catch when his leg bent awkwardly in the second quarter.

The speedy senior from Greenville, Fla., was having his best season with Florida State. He had carried the ball 91 times for 687 yards for an impressive 7.5 yards per rush, to go along with five scores on the ground. Thompson was also a threat in the passing game, catching 21 balls for 248 yards.

Thompson was carrying the load for the Seminoles against Miami at the time of his injury. He had 94 of the team’s 112 total yards. The team was able to come together and win without him, 33-20.

Devonta Freeman and James Wilder Jr. split carries in Thompson's absence on Saturday.
