Miami football: Kelvin Cain the next Cane to leave the U

Junior defensive lineman Kelvin Cain is the second player to leave the Hurricanes in the last several weeks.

Mike Ehrmann

Kelvin Cain, a junior defensive lineman for the Miami (FL) Hurricanes, has left the team according to a university spokesman in a report by Michael Casagrande of the Sun Sentinel on Wednesday.

With four games left in the regular season, the Hurricanes (4-4, 3-2 in the ACC) will be without Cain, who played in the team’s first first seven games, although not in Miami’s 33-20 loss to the Florida State Seminoles on Saturday. As a backup, Cain recorded 11 total tackles and one sack for the season.

Cain becomes the second former member of the Hurricanes, along with offensive lineman Jermaine Johnson, to depart from the team in the month of October. Johnson announced his decision to leave Miami on Oct. 1.

SB Nation’s State Of The U didn’t seem particularly upset with the loss, tweeting Friday morning that the 6’3, 238-pound junior “never made an impact at three different positions.”

The Hurricanes next host Virginia Tech on Thursday, Nov. 1, in primetime.
